Founded in 1240, destroyed 1567-8. Friars remained on locally in places of refuge at Bellaneely (Roscommon) and Friars' Island. There were only two friars there in 1766. Present friary built in 1869, church in 1930

Sunday & Holy Days: 7.30pm (Saturday Vigil), 7.30am, 9.30am and 11.00am

Weekdays: 8.00am and 10.00am

Bank Holidays: 10.00am and 12 noon

CONFESSIONS:

Monday - Friday: 10.30am - 1.00pm & 3.00 - 6.00pm (on request)

Saturday: 10.30am - 1.00pm & 2.00 - 6.00pm

No Confessions on Sundays or Bank Holidays.

OTHER SERVICES:

St. Anthony's Novena Mass: Tuesdays 10.00am & 7.30pm

Morning Prayer and Mass: Saturday 10.00am (incl Devotions to Our Lady)

Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament: First Friday after 10.00am Mass, concluding with Evening Prayer and Benediction at 5.45pm.

Monthly meeting of the Secular Franciscan Order: Second Wednesday of the Month: 10.00am & 7.30pm.

AN IMPORANT PUBLICATION
To mark the celebration of the 800th anniversary of the foundation of the Franciscan Order a major study of the history of the Irish Franciscans was published in November 2009. Entitled The Irish Franciscans, 1534-1990 (Four Courts Press) the work examines all aspects of the life of the  friars and their impact in Ireland and on the Continent.

Irish Eyes are Smiling
“Irish Eyes are Smiling” - Charity Album from Fr. Tom Russell OFM in aid of The LARCC Cancer Support Centre. Fr.  Tom Russell OFM is an Irish Franciscan working in their well known community at Rossnowlagh, Co. Donegal. He has recorded a charity album in aid of The LARCC Cancer Support Centre based near Mullingar, Co. Westmeath. The album, “Irish Eyes Are Smiling”, contains Irish classics such as; My Lagan Love, The Foggy Dew and Roisin Dubh.
