St Anthony’s Novena

St Anthony remains one of the most popular saints in the world. His many patrons have great confidence in his intercession before the Lord.

The annual Novena celebrated in his honour began in most of our Irish friaries on 4 June – Rossnowlagh friary holds a triduum.

Archbishop Diarmuid Martin of Dublin celebrated the opening Mass of the Novena in Adam and Eve’s friary. The photo shows the Archbishop with Provincial Minister Hugh McKenna, OFM, and Adrian Peelo, OFM, who is the Preacher for the Novena.

The Novena culminates in our churches with great solemnity on the feast of the saint, 13 June. On that day there will be the blessing of lilies and of children.

St Anthony pray for us and all we carry in our hearts!
