Peace! At present I’m down in our Friary in Killarney doing some Spiritual Direction Ministry and tomorrow one young man, presently discerning his vocation with me, is coming to meet me and to have a look around the Postulancy. At present there are a number of men discerning their vocation with me. Hopefully this chap, already a qualified engineer will be able to meet Vincent our new postulant who appears to be settling in very well. I’m sure he’ll find it interesting to hear how Vincent has experienced his first few days with us. During this first year of Franciscan Formation the postulant has an opportunity to get to know himself better, to get to know the Order better and particularly the Irish Franciscan Province. The postulant lives, prays and lives in community though he will also have a number of interesting outside placements during the year This is a busy Friary but the house is extremely peaceful and relaxing and an ideal place for Franciscan Formation. What is the Franciscan Vocation?“The peace you proclaim with words must dwell even more abundantly in your hearts. Do not provoke others to anger or create scandal. Rather let your gentleness draw them to peace, goodness and harmony. This is our vocation: to heal wounds, to bind what is broken, to bring home those who are lost.” St. Francis of Assisi, from Legend of the Three Companions
