May the Lord give you peace. At this time of year many people are reviewing their lives and wondering about their future. It has been my experience as one involved in the vocations ministry that it’s during this time of reflection that men and women begin to question a particular career path and set about considering something different or something more challenging. For some men, it’s at this time that they begin thinking about serving God as a Franciscan Friar.
Those presently in the Franciscan Formation (or training programme) in Ireland have chosen the ‘Franciscan Way’ in preference to the career path they had already embarked upon. This was not an easy decision and during their time of discernment with me they had lots of questions and very many valid concerns. Some men, after a time of discernment decided not to follow this way but for those who have, they appear to be very happy. Needless to say their discernment continues and will continue all though life as it does for all of us.
If you are interested in finding out more about the ‘Franciscan Way’ of life and in meeting some of those men who are presently in the Franciscan formation programme you will be able to do so as part of your discernment when you will be able to join them for week-ends to ‘experience the prayer and community way of life’ that they are presently living. Those men in formation found these week-ends invaluable and I think you will too. If you are interested in finding out more about us why not contact me at: firstname.lastname@example.org
God bless you as you continue on your discernment journey.
