Peace and joy to you all! I haven’t been in touch for a number of weeks now and during my time in the U.S.A and Canada our two novices, Jack O’Riordan and David Collins made 1st Profession in the Franciscan Friary, Ennis, Co Clare. This was a very special day for all of us in the Irish Franciscan Province, the 1st Profession of two new Brothers. Just a week before that two other men, one from Co Cavan and one from Co Cork joined our postulancy programme (their 1st year of formation in the Franciscan way of life). Needless to say there is always great joy among the brothers when men come to experience our way of life.
Let me take this opportunity of wishing Jack, David, Feidhlim and Philip every blessing as they continue in their Franciscan Formation.
On my return to Galway on the afternoon of October 3rd we (the Galway fraternity), joined with our Poor Clare Sisters here in the city to celebrate the Transitus, the passing of Francis from this life to everlasting life. On Sunday, here in the Abbey church, Francis St, we were joined by a large congregation for the 12.30 Mass to celebrate the Feast Day of our Holy Father and Brother, Francis of Assisi. Afterwards many of the congregation joined us for light refreshments in the local rowing club.
I hope to be in more regular contact with you, now that the Summer is over. If any of you think you might be interested in joining Jack, David, Feidhlim and Philip then why not take the first step, often the most difficult, by contacting me at:
Wishing you every blessing as you continue to discern your vocation in life.
