Many joined the Poor Clares in Carlow on Saturday 31 June to celebrate the 800th Anniversary of St Clare’s consecration to God in 1212. The Church was packed; people were greeted by pipers as entered and flags and buntings fluttered in the wind. The celebrations were led by Cardinal Brady, and Liam Lawton led the singing. Cardinal Brady delivered an excellent homily on the life of St Clare and her relevance today, reminding us that Clare gave all for the One who gave all for her.
