Brothers Benedetto, Adrian, Theodore and Ian.

The 15th August, the Feast of the Assumption, was a very special day at the Franciscan Friary in Killarney as four novices, having successfully completed their novitiate year, made their First Profession in the presence of their various Provincial Ministers from different countries..

Theo van Adrichem, OFM, Provincial of the Friars in Holland, received the vows of Brother Benedetto Ressa.

Pierre Charland, OFM, Provincial of the Friars in Canada, received the vows of Brothers Adrian Macor and Theodore Splinter.

Aidan McGrath, OFM, Provincial of the Irish Franciscans, received the vows of Brother Ian Cunningham.

Brother Ian professes his vows.

Brother Joel Karlssonm TOR, who has also successfully completed his novitiate year, will make his profession in Sweden on 24th August.

The novitiate in Killarney is now in its second year of accepting candidates for the Franciscan Order with novices arriving from Great Britain, the Netherlands, Germany and Ireland.

Brother Ian traveled to his home town Ennis with his family. After a short holiday he will go to the Franciscan college of Saint Isidore in Rome to continue his studies.

The other newly professed returned to their homelands to continue their formation.

Many friars from Ireland and overseas attended the celebration and it was a day of joy tinged with sadness as the friars and the people in Killarney said farewell to the young friars who had won their hearts over the past year.

Please pray for our brothers.
