Now is a good time to begin planning for Creation Time, 2013 which hopefully will see all of us find new ways to actively improve our relationship with creation. Each year, Creation Time runs from 1st September to the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi on 4th October (St. Francis is patron saint of nature lovers & ecologists).
The Creation Time programme is organised by an ecumenical body called The Churches Together in Britain & Ireland.
This year’s theme is Water Justice, and corresponds with the United Nations International Year of Water Cooperation. We urge people to learn about water and the injustices that people suffer due to water loss & deprivation. We can also examine our own attitudes toward water usage, and how we care for our rivers, seas and oceans and the life that is in them. Fixing leaking taps can save water loss.
Many people also mark this reflective period by planting trees and flowers, and by walking, cycling or busing to work. Some organise a prayer or community event to praise and thank God for the wonderful gift of water in our lives.
