Fr. Edward O’ Callaghan O.F.M. of the Franciscan Fraternity in Liberty Street, Cork died peacefully on July 3rd 2019, in the loving care of the staff at Marymount University Hospital and Hospice.
He is deeply regretted by his Franciscan brothers, relatives and friends.
Edward, a native of Cork city, was born on 10th March 1939. He entered the Franciscan Order in 1957 and did his novitiate in Killarney friary, making his First Profession in 1958.
After studies in Galway UCG, Louvain in Belgium and in Rome he was ordained a priest on 18th February 1967.
He ministered in different friaries around Ireland, but is particularly associated with Limerick.
For many years he was involved with the annual Irish Franciscan Pilgrimage to Lourdes.
He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

Removal on Friday 5th July at 7.00pm to St. Francis Church, Liberty Street.
Requiem Mass on Saturday at 10.00am. Funeral afterwards to St. Finbarr’s Cemetery.
