A civic reception was held in February 2023 in the City Hall Waterford to mark the enormous service of the Franciscan and Dominican friars to the people of Waterford and its hinterland since the 13th century. Sadly, both Orders are now leaving the city.

There was a very good turnout at the reception. And excellent and sincere speeches were given by the councillors and Bishop Alphonsus Cullinan.

A sad day but one to cherish also. All who spoke thanked the friars for their care and support of countless families and wished them well for the future.
