May the Lord give you peace!
As well as being Vocations Director I do some Spiritual Direction ministry. I often suggest to directees that they might examine their day before going to bed at night. I use as the basis for this the Examen or Examination recommended by St. Ignatius of Loyola.
Thomas of Celano the first biographer of St. Francis of Assisi summed up Francis’ day in the following way:
He was always with Jesus:
Jesus in his heart, Jesus in his mouth, Jesus in his ears, Jesus in his hands; He bore Jesus always in his whole body.
Based on the life of St. Francis I recommend this as a great basis for examining our day.
How was I with Jesus today?
Was Jesus in my heart, in my speaking, in my listening, in my working???
When and where was I aware of the presence of Jesus in my life throughout this day?
God bless you as you come to the end of another day and if you are thinking of the ‘Franciscan Way’ why not contact me at: [email protected]ail.com
