May the Lord give you peace! At this time of year many men and women of college age and older, indeed right into their late thirties, are thinking about Priesthood and/or RELIGIOUS LIFE and hopefully some of you reading this are thinking about it too. All of us have a spirituality. This is how we relate to God and how we live our faith. Some religious orders are more attractive to us than others and so a lot depends on our own spirituality – how we like to live out our spiritual life. If the spiritualty of a particular order marries with our spirituality then that order might just be right for me.
If prayer is central to your spirituality then perhaps the ‘Franciscan Way of Life’ is for you. Prayer is central to our way of life. Personal prayer and prayer in community.
Community/Fraternity (Brotherhood) is also a priority in the ‘Franciscan Way of Life’, so if you feel called to community living this is another reason why you might want to consider the ‘Franciscan Way of Life’.
If you have great respect for all of God’s creation, people, and all created things then this could be another reason why the Way of St. Francis of Assisi might be the right way for you. Francis not only loved people, he loved all created things and for this reason he is the Patron Saint of Ecology.
Perhaps you feel called to minister to the poor, the marginalized in society. This is the ‘Way’ of those who follow in the footsteps of that little poor man of Assisi and so this might be another reason why the ‘Franciscan Way of Life’ might suit you. Francis ministered to the lepers of his time. Are you interested in ministering to those on the margins today????
If you think you might have a calling to the ‘Franciscan Way of Life’ please feel free to contact me. There will be no pressure to make a decison for the ‘Franciscan Way’ but hopefully together and with the help of God we will be able to help clarify what God is calling you to do in life.

I look forward to hearing from you.
Many blessings as you continue on your discernment journey.
