“Praised be You, my Lord, for Brother Sun and Sister Moon, for Brother Wind and Sister Water, for Brother Fire; praised be You, my Lord, for our Sister Mother Earth, our common home, which sustains and governs us.” (St Francis, “Canticle of the Creatures”)
POPE FRANCIS’ ENCYCLICAL “Laudato Si’: On The Care of Our Common Home” has provoked a world-wide discussion.
It is a Church teaching that future centuries will see as historic, a turning point in the Church’s understanding and approach to the care of this earth which we share as a home with all of God’s creatures.
For Franciscans this papal teaching is a special joy since the Pope shares the vision and inspiration of St Francis with the world.
It is important that we read and reflect on this extraordinary document.
