Dear Friends,
May the Lord give you peace! It gives me great joy to inform you that three young men, Ronan Sharpley, Richard Cutting, and Denis Aherne were accepted into the Franciscan Postulancy in the Friary, Killarney, Co Kerry on Friday 7th September. Here they are pictured with their Postulant Director Joseph Condren O.F.M and Assistant Director,Hilary Steblecki O.F.M.
The Postulancy begins after a fairly lengthy time of discernment with the Vocations Director/Animator and when they have become familiar with the ‘Franciscan Way’ of life, and completed the necessary requirements for entry.
The Postulancy lasts one year and prepares the men to make a decision to embrace the ‘Franciscan Way of Life’ by taking the next step of entering the Novitiate.
The time of Postulancy is designed to foster growth in Christian maturity through the development of the intellectual and emotional dimensions of human life. During the postulancy there is a great emphasis on human development and Christian faith formation. The postulants are also involved in social outreach. They live, pray, eat and recreate with the Franciscan community and so become familiar with ‘Fraternal Living’.
We ask that you remember Ronan, Richard and Denis in a very special way in your prayers and pray too that more men will join the ‘Franciscan Way of Life’ to follow Jesus by living the Gospel in imitation of St. Francis of Assisi.
