Our brother and former Minister General, José Rodrígiez Carballo, OFM, has been ordained a bishop.

The Titular Archbishop of Belcastro and Secretary of the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life, was ordained bishop in the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela, on Saturday, May 18, 2013, on the Solemnity of Pentecost.

The Presiding Bishop was Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, SDB, Secretary of State of His Holiness Francis. The Co-consecrating Bishops were his Eminence and Most Rev. Cardinal Carlos Amigo Vallejo, OFM, and Most Rev. and Excellency Msgr. Julián Barrio Barrio, Archbishop of Santiago de Compostela.

Besides several, Cardinals, Archbishops, and bishops, many priests and religious also concelebrated. There was a large number of Friars Minor who came from many parts of the world as well as Religious Sisters, friends, and family.
