NEW LEADERSHIP FOR IRISH FRANCISCANS:
The Irish Franciscans friars gathered for their Provincial Chapter in Gormanston College, Co. Meath, have elected a new leadership team.
New Minister Provincial, Hugh McKenna, with Cletus Noone, OFM
Some 90 friars from around Ireland and from Zimbabwe, Rome and Belgium came together on Sunday 3 July for a week of prayer, reflection and planning for the future. The elections of a new Minister Provincial and his team took place on Monday 4 July. The results of these elections are:

The new Minister Provincial, Hugh McKenna, is a native of Foxrock, Dublin city, and was born in 1962. Educated in the Franciscan College, Gormanston, he entered the Order in 1979 and made First Profession the following year. Ordained to the priesthood in 1989 he has served in a variety of ministries, including Formation Director in St Isidore’s College, Rome. He has been Vicar Provincial for the past five years.
