Dear Friends,

Peace and joy to you all.   I was invited by Fr Tom Ryan P.P. of Shannon to speak at the Annual Novena in honour of Matt Talbot in Kilrush, Co Clare, last night and Shannon tonight.   There were large crowds on both nights and  I pray that all those who attended this prayerful celebration for the past eight weeks will be blessed in a very special way.  If you live near Kilrush or Shannon you might like to join in the final night of the novena in Kilrush on Monday night at 7.30 and Shannon on Tuesday night at 7.00.   If you wish to e.mail a petition to be prayed for during the final night of the novena you can do so by logging onto the Shannon Parish website.

I’m off on Retreat to the Presentation Centre, Mallow, Co Cork in the morning please God so I ask you to remember me as I spend some time in prayer and reflection.   Assuring all those discerning with me at this time of a special place in my thoughts and prayers during this retreat.   Next Tuesday I hope to attend the Careers Fair at the Institute of Technology in Sligo.   If you are going to be in attendence please give me a shout.

In the Major Life of St. Francis by St. Bonaventure we read:  “St. Francis used to state firmly that we should desire the grace of prayer above everything else, and in every way possible he would encourage his brothers to the zealous practice of prayer.   It was his conviction that no one could make progress in the service of God without it.”   The above image of St. Francis in prayer was taken near the church of San Damiano in Assisi.

Many blessings.
