Dear Friends,

May the Lord give you peace!   As Director/Animator of Vocations for the Irish Franciscan Province it gives me great joy to inform you that on completion of their postulancy in Killarney Friary, Co Kerry,Novices 1 and after about a month holidays with family and friends, Adrian McGrath, Vincent Finnegan, and Dave Connolly were accepted into the novitiate in the Franciscan Friary, Ennis, Co Clare on Tuesday 4th September 2012.

In the novitiate Adrian, Vincent and Dave will be given an intense experience of Franciscan life.   The primary focus will be on their ongoing spiritual formation with a great emphasis on prayer and on the contemplative dimension of their Franciscan Vocation.

Formation for the Gospel life of the Friars Minor is primary in the novitiate as it is in all stages of Franciscan formation.   The novices will be given essential input on the Religious Life where they will have much opportunity for conversation in an adult learning environment.   Here they will be made aware of the challenges and difficulties facing Religious Life today.

Much emphasis will be put on the challenge of living the Franciscan charism in ‘Fraternity’.   Each brother is a gift to the Fraternity.

At the end of the novitiate year and with God’s help the Brothers will make 1st Profession before moving on to the next stage of their formation programme, an intensive year in ‘Franciscan Studies’ in Canterbury, England.

Please keep Adrian, Vincent and Dave in your prayers.

Many blessings,

Fraternally,
