Our Lord calls us to go and make disciples of all the nations by sharing the Good News in the power of the Holy Spirit. The Church is missionary by its very essence.

St. Francis was a man on fire with the desire to tell others of the love of God that Jesus had made know to us. Even when the numbers of his friars were very few, Francis sent them out two by two to preach the Gospel. He himself went to the Middle East and met the Sultan.

Today there are many thousand Franciscans witnessing to Christ in Mission lands.

The task of evangelizing all people constitutes the essential mission of the Church.  It is a task and mission which the vast and profound changes of present-day society make all the more urgent.  Evangelizing is in fact the grace and vocation proper to the Church, her deepest identity.  She exists in order to evangelize.

Church commits itself to this fundamental mission given to it by the Lord as he ascended into heaven.  At the heart of the Franciscan movement is this same call to evangelize.  The Order of Friars Minor offers itself to the Church as a catalyst to heighten the evangelization that we care called to do.  We place ourselves at the service of the Gospel and our brothers and sisters and continue to search for and implement new ways of evangelizing in the present age with eyes set to the future and the challenges and blessings it will bring.

The Franciscan Missionary Uion seeks to create an awareness and sense of responsibility for missionary evangelization among the Friars Minor, the faithful and all people of good will; to promote a spirituality and activity fostering missionary evangelization.

All who help our missionary work are included in special prayers and Masses each day.
